Join Natalia in the studio as she machine quilts this beautiful Flutter quilt. Natalia will walk you through her entire process- marking, planning, and both hand-guided and ruler quilting.
Natalia has chosen to bring the background filler design to life. Sometimes it’s fun to look beyond the seams and utilize negative space. In this video, Natalia will share how she achieves that look. Imagine butterflies fluttering in a garden in front of a beautiful fence.
Natalia will use a few rulers, including the Sway 4 and 4-N-1 machine quilting ruler to create beautiful designs on the butterflies. A bit of hand-guided quilting in addition to ruler work will create a captivating background filler.
Once Natalia has quilted the entire background filler pattern, she’ll remove the markings using a baking soda and water mixture. Once the machine quilting is complete the quilt is ready to be bound for a beautiful finished look.
Following Natalia’s process we hope you’re inspired to try quilting bold curves and shapes in your own quilting projects.
